Frequently Asked Questions
What is the session structure?
Our initial session will be an intake session. Intake sessions are still 50-55 minutes in length but are structured less like a traditional therapy session and are more question/answer in nature. Initial sessions are a good time for me to get a better idea of what brings you in, what you bring in with you in terms of experiences and desires, and gives you one of many chances to ask me questions about the therapy process. Typical sessions follow a standard 50 minute therapy hour, we begin with a check in and follow up about any tasks established in the last session and we go from there depending on what our goals are or if there are any urgent matters to attend to.
Do you have any specialized trainings or certifications?

Certifications:
-
TF-CBT Certified- Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (for children and adolescents)
-
Standard Triple P & for teens- Positive Parenting Practices (for caregivers)
Structured training in the following areas:
-
MAP training (previously certified)- Managing and Adapting Practices (for children, adolescents, and caregivers)
-

Why is there a difference between CA and CO rates?
I have thoroughly researched standard rates for individual, family, and couples therapy sessions between states and determined that due to differences in costs of living I would not be able to maintain comparable rates with other practitioners if I had one standard rate.
Do you offer any sliding scale or adjusted rates?
I always offer a limited number of spots to veterans, activity duty service members and their partners or children with valid identification. At this time I do not offer any sliding scale or adjusted rates beyond military considerations. As I am able to offer more access to services I will keep this section updated.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes, please visit my Insurance page for more details.
I am also able to provide a superbill, which documents the diagnosis we are working to address, and procedure code usage (documenting time spent in session), and some other details that allows for your insurance to reimburse you, rather than me. This is completely up to your insurance provider and based on their policies in place; it is always best to check with your provider in order to determine what they will or will not reimburse.
Insurance is not required and you may always pay out of pocket for services, should you wish, even if you have insurance.
Do you only offer telehealth therapy sessions?
Yes, at this time I am only offering telehealth sessions. In addition to allowing me more flexibility for times I can see clients, telehealth also offers a variety of benefits to clients, including increased accessibility and attendance to session. You may find more information here regarding some recent research regarding the efficacy of telehealth services.
